With just 4 months to go until the US Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas at Austin Texas the first layers of asphalt are being put down on to the track with the majority of the main straight and corners 1- 20 already completed; the track now being fully sculpted with some fantastic looking climbs and drops.

Guard rails are already being placed too, good news as at the inaugural Korean Grand Prix late installation of railings led to problems and a last minute race against time. Work on the pits and pit buildings is expected to be finalized in the next few weeks.

Homologation of the circuit will come around eight weeks before the race with Charlie Whiting visiting the circuit and checking everything is ready. There was an interim visit by the FIA in mid-June with no major problems flagged and though not all buildings are yet complete it is believed they are on schedule and it seems all pit and paddock buildings as well as grandstands and other facilities are in an advanced stage.
